The materials I use within my practice are often stripped down to their most basic properties. Turns of tide have featured heavily within my recent work where I attempt to capture the flow of water within exposed but undeveloped colour photographic paper. By removing the darkroom and chemical process the paper is usually subjected to I am left with its most basic form. Paper, light sensitive emulsion and resin that reacts to water.

This work looks away from this material and instead focuses on the substance that interacts with it. Sea water was gathered from the Atlantic Ocean, boiled into a condensed solution and applied to black and white photographic negatives. When digitally scanned the sea water in its condensed state is magnified and highlighted, macro or micro worlds on the cellular or planetary level.
